I DON’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT 2023 ILLEGAL CONVENTION – SAMPA
MATERO PF MP Miles Sampa says he does not feel guilty about the illegal convention that he held in 2023, stating that the current PF wrangles cannot be attributed to that convention.
Meanwhile, Sampa says many people have told him that he is destined to rule this country, adding that it may not happen this year or in 2031 but he believes that it will happen someday.
Asked when he featured on Diamond TV, Monday, if he felt guilty and that he was to blame for the current internal wrangles in PF, Sampa said, “No. I’ve heard some politicians talk about that, when I hear that, I just say these are amateurs”.
“When you hear any politician talk about 2023 convention, just know that they are weak politicians, they have no people following them and they use that as an excuse. The real problem of the PF started when we lost power in 2021 general election.
I played my part in Matero, I got stabbed there fighting for votes for Edgar Lungu but we are a team and we lost, I’m part of the blame, together with everyone, only weak people try to blame others. That was the beginning of the problem; we can only correct that problem with the next general election.
Problems made in a general election, you correct them after five years. If that was the problem, why did the people of Chawama listen to me, why were they happy to see me, why did we deliver? PF is not a piece of paper, we have proved it in Chawama,” Sampa said.
“Go back to debates in Parliament or when the Bill [Cyber Crimes Act] was brought, I’m probably one of the few that spoke out against it. I believe, if one day, and a lot of people have told me that they think it’s in my destiny to rule this country one day, if it’s not 2026, it’s 2031, if it’s not, another year, they believe so and I have reason to believe so and with being put in the cells, those reasons are just being validated.

President HH, that’s what he advocated for, he condemned president ECL that stop this cyber law stopping people from speaking on Facebook, on TikTok, on Instagram, let them speak, whether it’s a lie or not, it’s freedom of speech, the people will make their choice and they made their choice in 2021, so you cannot guard people [on how] to speak”.
Sampa further said UPND had been trying to create a by-election in Matero but the ruling party would never win an election in that constituency.
“I now consider myself MP of Lusaka city. I’m MP of Chawama, Matero, Kanyama, Lusaka Central, Munali [and] Kabwata. In Matero, the only chance UPND had to win in Matero was in 2021 when they had [Tom] Michelo and when the wind of change was on their side and HH. It was a hard battle, we fought. Had PF put another candidate other than me, we would have lost that seat, like they lost in Kabwata, like PF lost in Lusaka Central, Munali, Kanyama but we fought hard.
Even now, they’ve always wanted to cause a by-election in Matero, they bring up this, they bring up this, they take this to court, they use surrogates, they use Chabinga or Ng’ona to create a by-election there,” said Sampa.
“Even now, there’s a judgment coming up next few days (today), if that judgment will be that there’s a by-election in Matero or otherwise, let me tell you something, UPND, as a ruling party, will never win Matero. If they cause a by-election between now and……they’ll not win a by-election there, whether it’s me standing there again or any other.
There are many individuals there, there’s Celestine [Mukandila], there’s councillor [Patrick] Salubusa, councillor Lee Mukupa, councillor Annie [Chinyanta], councillor [Chrispin] Kabole, there’s [David] Kakoma, those individuals, one of them there, if it’s not me, any by-election, 2026, the ruling party UPND will not win Matero. They said they would win Chawama, I said they would lose and they lost”.

You will face the music at some point. The members of PF now cant have a convention, cant use their offices. Yes your intent was to fix Edgar Lungu. But in the end look at what you have done. Yet after all this you went back to Edgar Lungu and regretted the move. Today you want to recant that? What kind of a man are you? Do you care about the consequences of your actions? And you want to suggest that there are some people who say you will lead Zambia one day? What delusional people are those that would even consort with a man who is so inconsistent? Some people should NEVER be on any ballot, let alone seek nomination. Ba Masebo even you say some people are talented? Some people are so destructive why risk the Zambian people with such people at the helm?
