“I Wasn’t Part of the Meeting!”: Nalolo MP Distances Himself from Hamududu’s Surprise UPND Alliance

Drama is brewing in the Party for National Unity and Progress (PNUP), and it’s spicier than your grandmother’s chili relish! Nalolo Member of Parliament Imanga Wamunyima has sensationally declared that he missed the mysterious meeting where his party leader, Highvie Hamududu, decided to join the UPND alliance and endorse President Hakainde Hichilema for the 2026 elections.

“I wasn’t there!” Wamunyima exclaimed when contacted for comment, sounding like someone who just discovered they missed out on a wedding buffet. “We needed to have a consensus, not this quick jump. Hamududu didn’t even leave a note or WhatsApp update for us!”

Hamududu’s solo decision has sent shockwaves through PNUP. Critics are calling it a “political elopement.” Some say they were left wondering whether he joined the UPND for love, strategy, or perhaps just the snacks at the alliance meetings.

The fallout has been dramatic. Vice President Kasote Singogo promptly packed his political bags and left the party in protest, possibly muttering, “I didn’t sign up for this drama!” Secretary-General Stella Chintu, meanwhile, has publicly distanced herself from Hamududu’s actions, essentially saying, “We don’t claim him!”

Adding to the mix, Wamunyima took a detour to roast the UPND government, calling on them to fix the country’s rising inflation. “From 15.7% to 16.5%? Are we competing in a race or running a country?” he quipped. “Double-digit inflation in a third-world country is like asking a man with one shoe to run a marathon—it just doesn’t work!”

As the dust settles, one thing is clear: PNUP might need a serious family meeting. Wamunyima, who clearly missed the RSVP for the first one, wants the party to weigh its options carefully. “Let’s evaluate their performance before saying ‘I do,’” he joked, likening Hamududu’s alliance to an unplanned marriage.

For now, PNUP remains a house divided, with members either scratching their heads or laughing nervously at the drama. One anonymous insider quipped, “If politics were a soap opera, PNUP just won an award for Best Plot Twist!”

For now we wait to see if Hamududu and the UPND will send out apology cupcakes—or if Wamunyima will keep reminding everyone, “I wasn’t at the meeting!”
