We live to learn, says apologetic Max Chongu
PF supporter Max Chongu says he is sorry for the irritation that he may have caused to Zambians when his party was in power.
Chongu, who calls himself a businessman, became synonymous with all things negative under the dark days of the PF misrule.
In April 2018, Chongu sank to the lowest ebb and was seen wearing a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church Dorcus Mothers’ esteemed uniform, while holding a bottle of something that certainly intoxicates.
His wearing of the church’s uniform was a protest against the SDA Church because of a video that aired on Prime TV where an uniformed Dorcas mother ‘accused’ former president Edgar Lungu of being a drunkard.
In August last year, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), seized three motor vehicles from Chongu and to this day, the Commission continues to enjoy watching those stationary automobiles.
One wonders the mode of transport that the erstwhile PF die hard Chongu used to reach Muvi TV studios on Nangwenya road in Kalingalinga township.
On the Muvi TV special interview, Chongu, who wore a suit and was speaking decent English – unlike those boss ni boss singers who once exalted Bowman Lusambo – said people live to learn and is now seeking forgiveness from those he may have injured, knowingly or unknowingly.
“To be honest, when we lost an election, I had time to reflect and I was the first person to apologise to the people of Zambia. We live to learn! When you are exposed to certain things that you never had, of course, you’ll behave in a certain way which will irritate a lot of people. But one of the greatest attributes of Christianity is to forgive and love one another,” Chongu said.
“And I did apologise and it went viral; I apologised to everyone I offended. But for the sake of this being the first TV interview after we lost an election, I want to apologise to the people of Zambia for the things that I could have done wrong knowingly or unknowingly. I hope each and every person that was offended will find that soft spot in their heart to forgive me.”
Chongu has since cautioned UPND youths not to fall into the evil ditch where PF youths found themselves, where they specialised mostly in recording and circulating audios with offensive words with the ability to permanently retire one’s eardrum.
He emphasised that UPND youths should not start to insult the party leadership by way of sending audios.
“In politics it’s very important to allow people to freely speak their mind. But when you suppress them, intimidate them, they will keep quiet and the next reality will be one million difference, in terms of votes,” he said.
Chongu did not forget to pile praise on President Hakainde Hichilema for being an educated and successful businessman.
“The President should remember that he got much support from social media. He should never turn his back on social media and what people are saying on social media. In Nigeria they say that a river that forgets its source easily dries up,” Chongu advised.
He, however, said not everyone who was in the PF is bad and wasteful.
