KALABA REMAINS ON BALLOT – CF
Citizens First (CF) party has clarified that its President Harry Kalaba will remain on the ballot despite his running mate Moses Mawere joining another political alliance
A Member of the Presidential media team, Bangwe Naviley Chisenga, said the Electoral Commission of Zambia had pronounced itself on the Andyford Banda running mate issue.
The Commission stated that the law does not address the withdrawal of a running mate before an election and that such a withdrawal does not invalidate a Presidential candidature.
Bangwe, who is also the Parliamentary Candidate for Nkundalila in Serenje, urged CF Members to remain focused on campaigning for President Kalaba with only one month remaining.
He stated that the party remained a competitive and credible partner that would be key in determining who forms the next government.
Bangwe added that CF was equal to the task and remained very competitive in the race, standing at the epicentre of the question of who will form government next month.
He noted that the dynamics of the election could still change significantly in the final weeks.
Bangwe advanced that the party’s grassroots structures were intact and fully mobilised behind President Kalaba.
He said that CF would not be distracted by the departure of individuals who had chosen other parties as they exercise their democratic right.
Bangwe affirmed that the Presidential ticket remained valid and that all legal requirements had been satisfied.
He emphasised that the party’s focus was on selling its manifesto to Zambians rather than internal disputes, and insisted that Citizens First would play a decisive role in the outcome of next month’s general election.
