 RAMAPHOSA PUSHES APARTHEID REPARATIONS HOUSING PLAN — SPARKING FIERCE DEBATE OVER FAIRNESS, PRIORITIES AND WHETHER GOVERNMENT IS DIVIDING SOUTH AFRICANS EVEN FURTHER

Government has moved forward with a plan to provide housing assistance to victims of apartheid, identified through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission process.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the rollout of these regulations during a launch event in KwaZulu-Natal, saying the move is meant to address past injustices and help heal historical wounds.

But not everyone is convinced.

⚠️ The decision is already triggering strong reactions:

Some believe this is long-overdue justice for victims of apartheid

Others argue it raises serious questions about fairness in a country still battling housing shortages

Critics say government should focus on fixing current service delivery failures affecting all citizens

 South Africans are now divided:

Is this about justice and healing the past?

Or is it politics that could deepen divisions in an already strained society?

 With millions still waiting for housing, the big question remains:

 Who should come first — historical victims, or everyone currently struggling?
