⬆️ READ OPINION | UPND Using Chabinga to Kill the PF
I write as a concerned PF member who has followed recent political happenings with growing unease. The repeated claim that the UPND has no hand in the internal turmoil within the Patriotic Front is becoming harder to sustain when weighed against events unfolding in the public domain. What is presented as coincidence increasingly looks like calculated political advantage.
After more than 25 PF Members of Parliament voted in favour of Bill 7, Acting PF President Given Lubinda exercised party authority and expelled the MPs for indiscipline. Whether one agrees with the decision or not, this was an internal party process. What followed, however, raised serious questions. Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa publicly declared Lubinda’s action null and void. His statement was direct interference in the internal affairs of an opposition party.
Later the same day, Robert Chabinga went live on Facebook and other UPND-aligned media platforms. He openly mocked Lubinda, dismissed the expulsions, and vowed to drag him to court. The sequence, timing matters and tone all matter. If the ruling party is not involved in PF internal disputes, why did a senior government official move first to delegitimise a lawful internal decision?
Further concerns arise from visible state conduct. Chabinga enjoys special state security. He was present at the signing ceremony of Bill 7 and was seen interacting cordially with President Hakainde Hichilema and Vice President Mutale Nalumango. The smiles said everything.
It is therefore reasonable to ask whether Robert Chabinga is being positioned as a vehicle to weaken and fracture the PF from within. This is not unprecedented in Zambian politics. It would be strategic. It explains the confidence with which internal PF authority is being challenged using state platforms and legal threats.
This concern goes beyond party loyalty. It is a democratic concern. When the ruling party, through state officials, appears to shield or elevate one faction inside an opposition party, the line between governance and political manipulation becomes dangerously thin. This line matters for Zambia’s democratic future.
I raise these questions because The People’s Brief has built a reputation for interrogating power without fear or favour. This pattern deserves scrutiny. Silence risks normalising a precedent where opposition parties are weakened not by voters, but by state-assisted internal disruption. Zambia deserves clarity.

Odd, they have no senses now, Sampa brought Chabinga. Why didn’t the upnd die. Your pf is so weak
HH knows that the best and easiest way to finish your opponents is to leave them to finish themselves. HH has nothing to do or worry about PF, they have already finished themselves.
Exactly , PF will continue tearing themselves while days for nominations are on count down, before we know it, we are on voting day without PF coz Chabinga doesn’t seem to have interest in challenging HH, he feels HH is better to lead the country currently. Otherwise these fools will keep on mentioning HH every day and we are getting used.
These days even me also I have turned into a prophet lol I can tell of the next story from these fools.
More speculation. And guesswork. Not a single shred of evidence linking UPND to the downfall of PF.
Speculation on top of existing speculation and guesswork.
Net result? Confusion and madness.
PF should just grow some balls, man up, take responsibility for sh!tting in their own pants.
It is more than speculation, it is just beating about the bush. No aorta of evidence.
When are you going to account for your actions, ba PF?
This is my free advice to you.
1. When you lost the elections, you were supposed to sit down and reflect on your loss.
2. Identify the specific areas that affected your performance and come up with a plan to deal with each one.
3. Hold a congress to elect new leaders to lead the PF into the 2026 elections.
You are still in denial, and the elections are 8 months away. You have continued the blame game. During your reign, you heaped all the blame on HH as if he were the one in power. Your party is divided along tribal lines, and you expect Zambians to vote for such a disorganized group of confused, arrogant people?
Wish you all the best as you live in denial.
The 24th October,2023 so called PF Conference with some PF members as Candidates against Miles Sampa… Police Protection provided by the State for an Illegal Conference.
Then in came Judge Chocho Situmbeko with an Injunction, overturned the following day, adjournments and Adjournments and rulings to date never made.
Then Judge Timothy Katenekwa, until the Judge was Retired without the PF case being resolved..Then Judge Sililo Siloka, and preliminary Issues after preliminary issues, but the main issue never heard…and the Judge dismisses the case over preliminary issues.
Then reconciliation made in April 2025, between the Parties, but the Hon Judge Conceptor Chinyama refuses to acknowledge the reconciliation , sends the case to a full trial. The parties testify with the so called Secretary General Ng’ona clearly stating that the so called conference was illegal, and he doesn’t know how he became secretary general. Meanwhile the so called President Robert Chabinga runs for cover and fails to Testify. Instead of the Hon Judge Conceptor Chinyama making a ruling, she reserves judgement to an indefinite date.
This is what I know about the PF cases.
If this looks normal, then we are not normal as a country.
There has been state interference in the Issues of the Patriotic Front.
Hakainde has unofficially ” Banned” the Patriotic Front in Zambia. They can’t mobilize, they can’t hold public Rallies, can’t participate in Bye Elections, can’t even wear Party Regalia during bye Elections.
He is resolved to obliterate the Patriotic Front using whatever means. If the Patriotic Front decides on a Special purpose Vehicle, then he extends the confusion to that Vehicle..And now he is on to the FDD.
This is what is happening in Zambia under the MAN. The man who wants to stand against himself in 2026.
With some UPND Members as Candidates..Typo
