ZESCO SAYS POWER SUPPLY EXPECTED TO STABILIZE BY FEBRUARY NEXT YEAR

By Lukundo Nankamba

Power Utility Company Zesco Limited says it expects the power supply to stabilize by February next year, amid anticipated normal to above-normal rainfall.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Zesco Spokesperson Matongo Maumbi explains that with good rainfall, the country will have many more alternatives to hydro power, providing potential energy to the national grid for a full supply of power.

Mr. Maumbi has also noted that the measures government is implementing to manage load shedding, including the installation of solar panels, have the potential to significantly contribute to the country’s power supply when fully realized.

Meanwhile, Mr Maumbi is optimistic that by next year, many consumers would have transitioned to solar energy, net metering, and other power alternatives, which will reduce the burden on the national grid and help balance electricity distribution across the nation.
