16 ARTISTS UNITE IN PATRIOTISM SONG 15 DAYS BEFORE AUGUST 13 POLLS
…Musicians release “One Zambia One Nation” anthem urging peace before, during and after elections

LUSAKA – With 15 days to go before Zambia’s August 13 general elections, 16 renowned Zambian musicians have released a unity anthem calling on citizens to uphold peace and the “One Zambia One Nation” spirit.
The song, titled “Patriotism Song,” was written and directed by gospel artist Victor Nyirongo and produced by Mr. P at Major Sounds Studios. It will be available on YouTube, Spotify, BoomPlay, and other major streaming platforms.
The collaboration features Nyirongo, veteran afro-fusion and reggae artist Chris Aka, MC Wabwino, Za Yellow Man, PJG Joshua, Enoch Mbewe, Pastor Edwin HVP, Chitoti, Enoch Phiri, Minister Changabantu, Micah Bemba-Lady, Precious Lungu, Pastor Geoffrey Mangimera, Vivian Chileshe, Pastor Kennedy, and Peter The Psalmist.
In an interview, Nyirongo said the song was intended to remind Zambians that national interest comes before political interest.
“One Zambia One Nation must guide us during campaigns, on voting day, and after the elections. Zambia is bigger than any political party. Elections must be about ideas, not violence,” Nyirongo said.
“We are calling on the youth not to be used as tools of violence. We owe it to our forefathers who fought for independence to protect the peace we have today.”
Veteran artist Chris Aka said musicians have a responsibility to promote unity.
“We may support different political parties, but we remain one people. This song is our contribution to peaceful campaigns and a peaceful August 13,” Aka said.
According to Nyirongo, plans for a music video are already underway. He said the video will be released ahead of the polls and distributed to all radio and TV stations to amplify the message of peace.
“Plans are already underway, and it will be out before Zambia goes to the polls.”
