16 YEAR OLD KALOMO BOY RAPES AND KILLS 68 YEAR OLD WOMAN
Police in Kalomo district have arrested a 16 year old juvenile of Dafan area suspected of raping and killing a 68 year old woman on 7 March, 2022.
This follows a report from Kalomo Town Council Chairperson, Coy Makaya who reported finding the body of Alice Ng’ambi in the nearby bush about 120 metres away from her house between the maize field and some shrubs.
Southern Province Acting Police Commanding Officer, Alfred Nawa tells Byta FM that officers found the deceased’s remains with small bruises on the face and on the left side of the chest, and a little blood oozing from the mouth.
Nawa says Ng’ambi reportedly left her home at about 13:00 Hours with a bucket to draw water from a nearby shallow well before she was discovered dead.
He says Police revisited the scene Tuesday afternoon and found the deceased’s under wear hidden in a shrub just a few meters away from where her corpse was found.
Nawa explains that a 16 year old suspect of the same area and a neighbour to Ng’ambi confessed in the presence of his relatives to strangling his victim on the throat after raping her.
Nawa says the suspect also admits to dragging the body of his victim from the actual seen of murder to a place behind the anti-hill where the body was discovered dead.
Police have recorded a Warn and Caution statement in vernacular signed by his two relatives.
