….we are sorry for voting you out, Lusaka youths apologize to PF

Lusaka, Thursday, January 26, 2023 ( Smart Eagles )

As the cost of living keeps skyrocketing under the New Dawn Administration, some youths in Lusaka who this morning held a protest apologized to the opposition propoor Patriotic Front (PF) for voting them out of power in 2021.

The youths have however assured the mighty PF that that they will ensure that they vote them back into power in 2026.

They cried that prices of essential commodities have continued to go beyond citizen’s reach as there is no money in circulation.

They also added that businesses are dying due to prolonged hours of load shedding.

The youths raised the issues when they addressed Dr. Chishimba Kambwili at his residence.

“Mwabafyashi, on behalf of the youths and those abashala kunganda mutweleleko. Life naichinja. Ubunga for example twaleshita K80, K65, apa ni times two close to times three. Amalaiti nayachita affect abantu abengi. Not only abama barbershops, abama salon. Twalabomba Shani? 2026, nimwebo twalapela,” the youths said.

“Death rate naikwela because of lack of medicines in hospitals. Twalapusuka shani? They just give us prescriptions at the hospital. We are asking, when you come into power, muleisa mu 2026, are we together? Twalipanga mistake, twalivote fye ichivote vote, apa twali chinja.”

Meanwhile, Dr Kambwili told the youths that he will write to President Hakainde Hichilema alerting him of the protest the youths held.

He praised the youths for being patriotic as he encouraged them not to be tribal as they go about their protests.

“Patriotic in a way that when you feel leaders are not leading you according to your expectation, or if the leaders are not providing the service that they promised, the best way to do it is to show them that we are not happy. It is your democratic right voice out that you are not happy. But in voicing out these concerns, please be aware that we have a country to protect. Zambia has always been known as a beacon of peace,” he said.

“And in your efforts to show government that you’re not happy, please don’t be violent. Don’t be violent or don’t do anything that will jeopardize the peace that we have enjoyed since independence. Politics is about providing a service to the people of Zambia or anywhere in the world… when politicians are elected you expect that things must change. But surprising now is that things are getting worse.”

Dr Kambwili warned that citizens will one day wake up and find that there’s no Zambia.

He added that he has no intention of degrading the New Dawn Administration.

“And if we are not careful as Zambians, one day we will wake up and find that there’s no Zambia to talk about. Your show of anger against those that in government is the right thing in the right direction and for me all I can do is that I’m going to write a letter to the President to tell him that I received a group of youths who came to complain about the high cost of living, about fertilizer, etc so that he can also take action,” he said.

“We are not doing these things to try and degrade or fight the government of the day. Politics is about service. Both the opposition and those in government have the responsibility to the people to correct.”
