Aug winner likely to be decided in Round 2 – Kambwili

Citizens First (CF) Roan parliamentary candidate Chishimba Kambwili says the 2026 general elections will likely be decided in the second round as the combined votes of the opposition will stop President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND from getting 50+1% outright majority in the first round.

Speaking with Daily Revelation yesterday, Kambwili said going by his political analysis over the many years he had spent in politics, indications were that the country would need a rerun between the two topmost candidates to settle the 2026 general election.

Asked on observations that the many opposition contestants would likely eat into each others votes, Kambwili the beauty about the current electoral  system was that it offered political participants and the electorate a second

  1. Ba Kambwili continues to rely on the majority of his tribe and those with limited education, rather than on genuine leadership, as he has done in previous years. However, the populace is beginning to awaken, including individuals who lack formal education. Continue to hold onto your dreams.

  2. Highly unlikely. The race will be settled in the first round. Most of the so called opposition parties presidential candidates will get less than five percent. HH’s vote is largely intact whereas the others will split the vote. The incumbent just needs a slight push to get him over the 50% + 1.

The problem is the opposition live in an echo chamber. They only hear and listen to their demons. They would do well to ensure that they monitor the voting and counting carefully so that when they lose (not if they lose), there will be no cries of rigging. We don’t want chaos and prolonged court cases after the elections.

We need to move on and get on with the serious business of developing our country.
