Nevers Mumba Quits Partisan Politics
By Wilson Mulinda
New Nation Party President NEVERS MUMBA has stepped aside from active politics with immediate effect.
Dr. MUMBA, who is also a former Republican Vice President, says the decision does not amount to permanent retirement from public service, but rather a redefinition of his service to the nation.
Speaking during a press briefing, Dr. MUMBA said Party Vice President REUBEN SAMBO will serve as Acting President until the next party convention.
Dr. MUMBA said the decision was made after thorough consultations and following what he described as a calling to serve the country in a different capacity.
He said he has engaged President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, who has since wished him well as he takes up a role as a former Vice President and statesman, providing counsel and guidance based on scripture, diplomacy, and political experience.
Dr. MUMBA has also announced his withdrawal from the UPND Alliance Council of Presidents, and wished all members well and continued success.
He said he is stepping aside from active politics without bitterness, but with gratitude for having served in various capacities in government.

Way to go Pastor Nevers Mumba. You have played your part. Your name will go down the annals of Zambian history as a pragmatic leader.
