Nevers Mumba Quits Partisan Politics
By Wilson Mulinda
New Nation Party President NEVERS MUMBA has stepped aside from active politics with immediate effect.
Dr. MUMBA, who is also a former Republican Vice President, says the decision does not amount to permanent retirement from public service, but rather a redefinition of his service to the nation.
Speaking during a press briefing, Dr. MUMBA said Party Vice President REUBEN SAMBO will serve as Acting President until the next party convention.
Dr. MUMBA said the decision was made after thorough consultations and following what he described as a calling to serve the country in a different capacity.
He said he has engaged President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, who has since wished him well as he takes up a role as a former Vice President and statesman, providing counsel and guidance based on scripture, diplomacy, and political experience.
Dr. MUMBA has also announced his withdrawal from the UPND Alliance Council of Presidents, and wished all members well and continued success.
He said he is stepping aside from active politics without bitterness, but with gratitude for having served in various capacities in government.

Way to go Pastor Nevers Mumba. You have played your part. Your name will go down the annals of Zambian history as a pragmatic leader.
Great move…wish other would follow suit after their loss in the elections and public service.
A breath of fresh at such an outlook….
Respect to you, Dr Mumba. Wishing you all of God’s blessings in your next assignment.
Good move Sekwila, good move. Of course we know you for liking fine things in life like you cousin Frank. That is still ok, hope your plate has been assured….bacheka. You and Winter have demonstrated some level of maturity in politics. You moved yourselves from a position were people were not sure of whether you were in politics for the belly to where you speak candidly about national issues. True you have run your race. I want to point out one issues that many have not said. During the previous elections we saw the president working very hard traversing the country and people were saying , he is alone. They forgot that you and mama, the Veep had camped up north in the battle front to bring the much needed votes. You did well because even when UPND lost the northern vote, the ones you garnered made a significant impact to the outcome. To you and mama, Zambia must say thank you and we’ll done. Take a seat Sekwila, relax and provide counsel when necessary and required. I your needs will be taken care of.
You have done well because your presence on the political scene was insignificant. You lack integrity and objectivty. Nevertheless, all the best in your future endeavours.
