TO THOSE QUESTIONING WHY KATELE KALUMBA WAS PICKED UP BY THE ZAMBIA ARMY – WATCH AND LISTEN.
Let me state it without apology: Those threatening the Head of State, the Army Commander and the Zambia Army are not politicians – they are terrorists and must be treated as such.
You cannot go live on Facebook or any other social platform, openly threaten to shoot the President of the Republic of Zambia, threaten the Army Commander and threaten the men and women who defend our sovereignty, and expect to be handled like a little baby. That is not politics. That is a direct attack on the State.
For far too long, some individuals have tested President Hakainde Hichilema’s patience. His tolerance, his deep respect for democracy and human rights has been mistaken for weakness. Let me make it clear today: That time is over.
Anyone who makes threats against the life of the President must be brought to book and the law must take its full and firm course. No one, I repeat, no one is above the law. The Presidency is not just an individual – it is an institution that carries the hopes and security of over 20 million Zambians.
Let us be very clear as a nation:
Politicians offer ideas. Politicians offer alternative policies. Politicians provide checks and balances.
Criminals threaten lives. Terrorists threaten to kill a sitting President. Terrorists threaten our uniformed forces.
We will not allow Zambia to be turned into a lawless jungle where criminals hide behind the word “opposition” to commit treasonable acts.
To the international community: Get the context right. We are not dealing with politicians here. We are dealing with criminals who have declared war on the peace and stability of Zambia.
And to my fellow Zambians, especially the youth: When it comes to National Security, when it comes to the security of the Head of State and the security of every Zambian family we must be united and not play politics.
