SATELLITE IMAGERY REVEALS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE AT YANDEX DATA CENTER

New satellite imagery shows the scale of the damage inflicted on Yandex’s data center in Sasovo following a Ukrainian drone strike.

Dnipro OSINT assesses that approximately one-third of the visible facility was burned, with a large section of the building visibly blackened. That refers to the damaged portion of the structure shown in the imagery, not necessarily one-third of the center’s total computing capacity.

The strike sparked a major fire and forced Yandex to suspend operations at the site. The company has acknowledged that it still cannot determine whether the damaged equipment can be restored.

Sasovo is one of Yandex’s five major data centers and hosts tens of thousands of servers. It also houses two of the company’s three supercomputers used to train its artificial-intelligence systems, although their condition remains unknown.

What initially appeared as flames during the night is now visible from orbit: this was not a superficial strike. A substantial section of one of Russia’s most important digital facilities was burned, operations were halted, and some of its most advanced equipment may be extremely difficult to replace under Western technology sanctions.
