Iran braces for possible post-election US strikes as Trump signals war could escalate

Iran faces renewed uncertainty over the possibility of fresh U.S. military strikes after President Donald Trump said Washington would not attack before the November 3 midterm elections, while leaving open the prospect of further escalation afterward.

The Pentagon has reportedly directed U.S. Central Command to prepare for potential major combat operations against Iran, although no final decision or launch date has been announced

Meanwhile, Western officials say Iran has preserved parts of its missile and drone production capacity despite months of U.S. and Israeli attacks, allowing Tehran to replenish its weapons stockpiles and maintain the ability to retaliate.

Iran has also relied on underground military facilities to protect missile assets from airstrikes. However, reports have not independently confirmed a new operation to move missiles into underground bases in response to the latest U.S. statements.

With diplomatic efforts stalled and military preparations continuing, the period surrounding the U.S. midterm elections is emerging as a critical moment for the future of the conflict.
