Trump calls for new Ukrainian president after Zelensky condemns Russia diesel deal

U.S. President Donald Trump has called for Ukraine to replace President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying the country needs a leader willing to strike a deal with Russia to end the war.

Trump made the remarks on October 10, one day after announcing a diesel supply agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin that would ease restrictions on Russian diesel export

The comments followed Zelensky’s sharp criticism of the agreement, which he warned could provide Moscow with additional revenue to sustain its war against Ukraine. Zelensky also accused Washington of undermining Ukraine’s position while peace negotiations were underway

Trump, meanwhile, blamed Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries for driving up fuel prices and warned that the strikes must stop. He argued that Zelensky had failed to reach an agreement to end the war despite repeated opportunities

The dispute has intensified tensions between Washington and Kyiv, raising fresh questions about U.S. support for Ukraine as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain stalled.
