UNITED STATES: Actor Brad Pitt asks court to order ex-wife Angelina Jolie to turn over financial records

Brad Pitt is back in court asking a judge to force Angelina Jolie to hand over more financial records tied to their French winery, Chateau Miraval.

According to court documents filed July 31, Pitt’s lawyers say Jolie only provided income and profit statements for 2020 and 2021. They’re now asking for 2017 through 2019 too — the years right after their 2016 split and leading up to when Jolie sold her stake in Miraval in 2019.

Pitt’s team argues those records are key because Jolie’s lawsuit claims she had to sell “to gain financial independence” from him, and that he had “substantial leverage and control” over her through Miraval.

Jolie’s side is pushing back. In a June filing, her lawyers said she never claimed “financial distress” — just that she wanted to “untangle her finances from her ex-husband.” They also called Pitt’s request a “serious invasion” of her privacy, noting she already gave tax returns and profit statements for 2020 and 2021 even though she “had no obligation to do so.”

The filings also reignited tension over an NDA Pitt allegedly wanted her to sign during winery sale talks. Jolie’s team says it was about covering up abuse, while Pitt’s team says it was about protecting Miraval’s business.

Quick recap:
2016: Pitt and Jolie separate
2024: Divorce finalized
2026: Still fighting in court over Miraval

The judge hasn’t ruled yet on whether Jolie has to release the 2017-2019 records.
