ADMIT FAILURE, POOR LEADERSHIP
… Stop hiding behind outside forces
THE incompetent UPND government should stop hiding behind global economic forces for the astronomical prices of essential commodities and harsh living conditions it is subjecting Zambians to.
We are reminding the regime that Zambians are not interested in hollow economic theories such as those reeled by UPND member Noel Nkhoma on a radio programme yesterday. They are intelligent enough to know when an incompetent regime is trying to lie its way out of its responsibilities and is trying to shift the blame elsewhere.
It is the responsibility of the government to provide solutions and cushion vulnerable citizens from the high cost of living. And one of the ways of doing this is the provision of subsidies until they have the capacity to fend for themselves.
The social cash transfer the failed regime is trying to use for hollow propaganda has a limited reach, catering for only a fraction of the vulnerable citizens.
The vast majority of citizens are suffocating from the high cost of living and no amount of public relations will give them relief.
It is hypocritical and grossly immoral for Mr Nkhoma and the UPND to stand on a hill screaming that the war in Ukraine and other global factors are the cause of the high prices of fuel, transport and basic foods.
Are these people serious?
When the PF government cited the negative impact of the pandemic, partial shutdown of the global aviation industry and shipping on which Zambia’s exports and imports depend, the partial drought and flash floods the same hypocrites dismissed the explanation saying it was poor leadership to blame.
We therefore urge Mr Nkhoma and his party to stop insulting Zambians with text book economic theories which will not make food, fuel and transport affordable.
Zambians are fully aware of where the instructions to remove subsidies from fuel and electricity have been coming from.
We have a government that is only good at rubber-stamping decisions and policies made by its foreign masters who are now running the country.
For once the New Dawn regime must own up and boldly tell Zambians that it does not have answers to their suffering because of poor leadership.
Only UPND cadres and sympathisers are seeing the imaginary improvement in the economy.
Stop boring citizens with the irritating song about global economic fundamentals and admit your failure. Running from one radio station to another to parrot text book theories is only annoying the hungry Zambians and struggling commuters more.
Provide solutions.
