Amazon Prime Air Cargo Plane Crashes After Sliding Off Runway at Miami Airport, At Least 5 Killed
A Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft operated by 21 Air for Amazon Prime Air crashed after landing at Miami International Airport (MIA), Florida, on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
The aircraft was reportedly arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it slid off the runway at around 2:00 p.m. local time, leaving airport property and striking several vehicles before bursting into flames. A large column of black smoke was reported above the airport.
At least 5 people were killed and 5 others injured, including 3 critically injured, according to preliminary reports.
More than 60 firefighting units responded to the scene as emergency crews battled the blaze.
Miami International Airport temporarily suspended flight operations and closed the affected runway while emergency crews secured the area.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the crash. Severe thunderstorms and strong wind gusts were reported in the area around the time of the accident and are among the conditions investigators are examining.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined the official cause of the accident.
