LUFUMA CONGRATULATES MBOWELA ON ‘SPIRITED FIGHT’, HINTS AT 2031 VICTORY
UPND’s winning Kabompo East Member of Parliament, Ambrose Lufuma, has extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to his opponent, Richard Mbowela, for what he described as a spirited fight in the parliamentary race.
Lufuma, who polled 6,694 votes against 6,262 for independent candidate Mbowela, acknowledged that the contest was highly competitive.
“It was not easy,” the former Minister of Defence said. “I would like to congratulate my colleague Mbowela for the good fight. There were two of us, and he did extremely well. That’s what democracy is all about.”
Lufuma added that Mbowela’s strong performance could be an indication that he may eventually win the seat in 2031.
“He did well, and maybe in 2031 it might be him,” he said.
Lufuma further called for unity among the people of Kabompo East, saying the divisions created during the campaign should now be put aside.
“I know camps were formed. There were two camps, but now we need to unite as Kabompo and work together for the betterment of our district,” Lufuma concluded.
Earlier, Mbowela conceded defeat and congratulated the veteran politician, while urging his supporters to put the elections behind them and forge ahead.
