ANALYSIS: COULD ISRAEL COORDINATE WITH SAUDI ARABIA AGAINST THE HOUTHIS?
Israel could potentially coordinate with Saudi Arabia to counter the Houthis’ growing influence and military activity around the Red Sea, particularly if the threat to regional shipping and Israeli security continues to increase.
The possibility comes as Saudi Arabia is reportedly seeking stronger action against the Iran-backed Houthis, including strikes on targets in Sanaa, while U.S. President Donald Trump has rejected Riyadh’s request for American bombardment of the Yemeni capital.
For Israel, the expansion of Houthi capabilities in and around the Red Sea represents a significant security concern. The group has previously targeted Israeli territory and international commercial shipping, making the Red Sea a strategically important arena for Jerusalem.
Any Israeli-Saudi coordination could range from intelligence sharing and surveillance to logistical or defensive assistance. Direct Israeli participation in Saudi airstrikes, however, would represent a much more significant escalation and could carry substantial regional and political risks.
