SILVIA MASEBO LOSES TO INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE IN CHONGWE EAST.

Former Health Minister Sylvia Masebo has suffered a major defeat in Chongwe East, losing to Independent candidate Anita Kamanga by a wide margin.

According to the results provided, Kamanga secured 16,058 votes, while Masebo, the UPND candidate, polled 6,798 votes.

The defeat comes amid claims that Masebo had become increasingly unpopular among some Chongwe residents, particularly over allegations that she threatened to demolish homes in the area.

Residents have alleged that Masebo, while in government, threatened demolitions and that Anita Kamanga was among those allegedly targeted because of properties she owns in the area.

Following the announcement of the results, some Chongwe East residents were seen celebrating Kamanga’s victory, with chants of “Masebo must go” reportedly heard among jubilant supporters.

Kamanga’s reported victory represents a significant political upset, defeating a former Cabinet Minister by more than 9,000 votes.

2. UPND – Sylvia Masebo: 6,798 votes

  1. Sylvia Masebo’s time is over. She has been in politics for such a long period of time. It’s to give others a chance to prove themselves. Good retirement please. Game over.
