ANOTHER TUNNEL FROM BELARUS DISCOVERED—LUKASHENKO’S “NEUTRALITY” RINGS HOLLOW

Lithuanian authorities have uncovered another tunnel leading from Belarus toward the Lithuanian border, highlighting the growing security challenges facing NATO’s eastern frontier.

According to LRT, border guards detected unusual ground vibrations in southeastern Lithuania and suspected an underground passage was being dug from the Belarusian side. With assistance from Polish specialists using underground detection equipment, authorities discovered a tunnel approximately 1.5 meters below ground and nearly one meter in diameter. The passage had not yet broken through into Lithuanian territory.

Lithuanian officials believe the tunnel was intended to facilitate the illegal movement of migrants into the European Union.

This is not an isolated incident.

Similar cross-border tunnels have previously been uncovered along the borders of Lithuania and Poland, part of a broader pattern of irregular migration and smuggling routes linked to Belarus.

Despite this, Alexander Lukashenko continues to portray Belarus as an innocent bystander, insisting his country is not involved in the wider confrontation between Russia and the West.

The facts tell a different story.

Belarus allowed Russian forces to use its territory as the launching point for the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, enabling the assault on Kyiv. Since then, Minsk has continued providing logistical support, military infrastructure, and political backing to the Kremlin.

Now, Lithuania and Poland accuse Belarus of facilitating illegal migration across their borders, forcing both countries to invest heavily in border security and military preparedness.

Neutral countries do not allow their territory to be used to invade a neighbor. They do not repeatedly become the source of cross-border security incidents. Whether it is Russian troops crossing into Ukraine or tunnels dug toward NATO territory, Belarus continues to find itself at the center of regional instability while insisting it bears no responsibility.
