I want to say this to whoever needs to hear it in Zimbabwe. As long as you approach politics through tribal lenses, ZANUPF will always win.
ZANUPF is strongest when ordinary Zimbabweans are busy fighting tribal wars on social media, in taverns and in their communities.
While Shonas and Ndebeles attack each other, the political elite remains united around power, privilege and access to State resources.
Ordinary Shonas gain nothing from ZANUPF simply because many of its leaders are Shona. The only Shonas who benefit are those connected to the system.
Ordinary Ndebeles gain nothing simply because Mthuli Ncube and other Ndebeles are in ZANUPF. The Ndebeles who benefit are those connected to the same system.
Poverty does not ask whether you are Shona or Ndebele. A collapsed hospital does not treat you differently because of your tribe. Unemployment, corruption, broken roads, failing public services and a worthless pension affect ordinary Zimbabweans across tribal lines.
The political elite understands this better than many ordinary citizens do. They may come from different tribes, but when their interests are threatened, they protect one another.
You are all victims of the same failed system. Stop fighting each other on behalf of people who benefit from your division.
Unite around your common interests as Zimbabweans. Tribalism only divides the victims and strengthens those in power.
