ATTORNEY GENERAL ASSURES CONSTITUTIONAL REFORMS WILL FOLLOW DUE PROCESS

Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha has assured that government will follow the due process required by law as the country prepares for major constitutional reforms.
Mr. Kabesha says the reform process will not be dictated by political commentary, assuring the public that Zambians will have an opportunity to participate in determining the direction of the proposed amendments.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Kabesha says there is no need for members of the public to fear that the constitutional reform process will be unjust.
He says government is ready to listen to the views of Zambians on the proposed constitutional changes and will take into account the views of elected representatives speaking on behalf of the people.
Mr. Kabesha further says political statements from both the ruling and opposition parties should not be allowed to create unnecessary fear or uncertainty around the reform process.
His comments come after UPND Special Assistant in the Office of the Secretary and Mobilization, Michael Chuzu, claimed that President Hakainde Hichilema is merely completing the term of the party’s late founder, Anderson Mazoka, and would only begin his own term in 2031.
