BALLOT PAPERS FOR 2026 GENERAL ELECTION TO ARRIVE MONDAY AFTER FLIGHT CHANGE
The Electoral Commission of Zambia has revised the schedule for the arrival of ballot papers for the 2026 General Election, with the first consignment now due in Lusaka on Monday, 27 July.
In a public notice issued from Elections House on Sunday, 26 July, the Commission said the first charter flight had originally been expected to land on Sunday. The air operator subsequently revised its flight schedule, and the Commission was advised by the charter company that the aircraft would not operate as previously communicated owing to an operational change to the flight programme.
The first flight is now expected to arrive at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Monday morning, with the precise time to be confirmed. It will carry the consignments originally scheduled for both Sunday, 26 July and Monday, 27 July. The remaining flights will continue as planned each day until Friday, 31 July.
The ballot paper verification exercise with stakeholders will now commence on Tuesday, 28 July at 10:00 hours at the ECZ Silverest Warehouse.
The Commission confirmed that all other arrangements remain unchanged. Stakeholders, including registered political parties, are expected to witness the receipt and verification of the ballot papers in line with the Commission’s established procedures, which the ECZ said would ensure transparency throughout the process.
The Commission added that it would continue to provide regular updates on the arrival of ballot papers to stakeholders and the general public.
The notice was signed by Patricia Luhanga, Corporate Affairs Manager, for the Commission. Zambians go to the polls on 13 August.
