BLACKOUT HITS MOSCOW AS INTERNET SERVICES FAIL ACROSS RUSSIA

A partial blackout struck several districts of Moscow, cutting power in Gagarinsky, Danilovsky and Zamoskvorechye and reportedly affecting infrastructure near the Oktyabrskaya metro station.

The disruption also affected MMTS-9, one of Russia’s most important telecommunications facilities and a major exchange point for internet traffic. Users across the country subsequently reported difficulties accessing websites and online services, with the highest concentrations of complaints coming from Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Customers of Rostelecom, MegaFon, Beeline and Lovit were among those reporting problems. The precise cause of the initial power failure remains under investigation, and no confirmed connection to a Ukrainian strike has been established.

Still, the broader picture is becoming impossible for Russians to ignore. Drone alerts, airport closures, damaged energy infrastructure, interrupted logistics, fuel shortages, blackouts and communications failures are reaching deeper into everyday life.

For years, the Kremlin tried to keep its invasion distant from the population of Russia. Day by day, that distance is disappearing.
