In a story that epitomizes commitment and dedication, a grade 12 pupil at Kampekete Secondary School in Chongwe District has given birth to a baby girl in class while taking her English Paper Two final examination.
The 17-year-old whose identity has been withheld is believed to have gone into labour on Monday but chose to complete the exam before heading to the hospital.
Both the mother and the baby girl are reported to be in good health, according to information obtained at the clinic by the school management.
According to the Zambia Daily Mail, Lusaka Province provincial education officer (PEO) Terry Changwe revealed that the school management and an eyewitness confirmed the incident in separate interviews yesterday.
“I received information that a Grade 12 student at Kampekete Secondary School delivered a baby during examinations on Monday… both the mother and the baby are in good health,” Changwe told Daily Mail.
Changwe explained that the pupil was assisted and was able to finish writing her paper, and has continued sitting the examinations.
