BRIAN MUNDUBILE HAS NO CAPACITY TO GOVERN ZAMBIA, FRED M’MEMBE WARNS ZAMBIANS

Socialist Party president Fred M’membe has questioned the suitability of National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential candidate Brian Mundubile to lead the country, alleging that his record in government demonstrates a lack of capacity to govern effectively.

Dr M’membe, who is also contesting this year’s general election, said Zambians will have themselves to blame if they elect Mr Mundubile into office.

He criticised Mr Mundubile’s tenure as Northern Province minister under the Patriotic Front (PF) administration, alleging that he failed to deliver meaningful development during his time in office.

Dr M’membe said entrusting the country’s leadership to Mr Mundubile and his associates would be a mistake, and urged voters to examine the background and record of those seeking public office.

He further argued that Mr Mundubile was part of the PF administration that was voted out of office in the 2021 general election and questioned whether its former leaders have demonstrated sufficient change to warrant another opportunity.

“You have seen the performance of those people when they were in government. Why did you kick them out? Have they gone through the purification process over the last five years?” he asked.

Dr M’membe also expressed concern over what he described as increasing political defections, saying the trend reflects a decline in principled politics.

He said the country needs leaders with integrity and a clear vision rather than politicians who frequently change political parties for personal gain.

Efforts to obtain a comment from Mr Mundubile were unsuccessful as his mobile phone was unreachable by press time.
