CDF MUHOOZI WARNS MINISTER JUSTINE NAMEERE: ‘IF SHE MISBEHAVES, SHE CAN BE REMOVED’

Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has issued a blunt warning to State Minister for Local Government Justine Nameere, saying that if she is “misbehaving,” removing her from Cabinet would be a straightforward decision.

Muhoozi, the son of President Yoweri Museveni, made the remarks in what appears to be a response to recent statements by Nameere about her close access to the President, as well as a viral video in which she reportedly spoke about plans by some MPs to organise a welcome party for former Speaker Anita Among following her release from house arrest.

Nameere, who was appointed State Minister for Local Government in Museveni’s May 2026 Cabinet, is also the Woman MP for Masaka City. Her election was challenged, leading to a recount before she retained the seat.

The minister has also been vocal in anti-corruption efforts, including the “Expose the Corrupt” campaign alongside other government officials.

Muhoozi’s latest remarks have since attracted attention, with questions emerging over what prompted the warning and whether it points to growing political tensions within the government.

What do you make of Muhoozi’s warning to Minister Nameere?
