CHINESE VOLUNTEERS REPORTED ON COMBAT MISSION WITH UKRAINE’S “ASIAN VOLUNTEER CORPS”
🇺🇦🇨🇳 A photo circulating online is claimed to show Chinese volunteers serving with Ukraine’s “Asian Volunteer Corps” during a combat mission on the Zaporizhzhia direction.
The unit openly recruits Asian volunteers and says it operates under contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, accepting Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English-speaking recruits for both combat and non-combat roles.
Chinese volunteers fighting for Ukraine are not unprecedented. A small number have already been documented serving in Ukrainian units, some motivated by opposition to Russia’s invasion and a desire to support Ukraine directly.
If the photo is authentic, it would be another reminder that foreign volunteers are still arriving to fight for Ukraine — including from countries whose governments have taken a very different political position on the war
Beijing may stand beside Moscow diplomatically. Some Chinese citizens have chosen to stand beside Ukraine instead. 🇺🇦
