Chitambala Allegedly Killed by Nephew in Stone Attack

A 56-year-old man in Mansa lost his life after being struck in the head with a stone by his nephew.
Luapula Province Police Commanding Officer Luck Munkondya stated that the victim, Ben Chitambala, was busy with chores at home when the 38-year-old suspect rode up on a motorcycle. Without warning or apparent reason, the younger man grabbed a stone and hit his uncle twice on the head, leaving him bleeding heavily on the ground..
Quick-acting neighbors rushed Mr. Chitambala to Mansa General Hospital, but he unfortunately died before arrival.
Local community crime prevention officers caught the attacker and placed him in the Mental Annex at Mansa General Hospital for detention.
Police noted that the suspect has a documented history of mental illness dating back to 2015 and have opened a formal murder investigation, while the victim’s body rests at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
