THE KITWE High Court has declared Christopher Kang’ombe as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Kamfinsa Constituency.

This is after the High Court dismissed the petition by losing United Party for National Development (UPND)Kamfinsa Parliamentary candidate Subeta Mutelo against the election of Christopher Kang’ombe as Member of Parliament for Kamfinsa Constituency in the August general elections.

And in giving the ruling, High Court Judge Abba Patel said the petitioner did not prove her allegations of massive electoral violence and abrogation of the electoral rules.

Justice Patel also said the petitioner did not prove to the court how her allegations against Mr. Kang’ombe of donating mealie meal, money and meat influenced the voting pattern in Kamfinsa Constituency.

She added that despite several witnesses alleging that they received money from Mr. Kang’ombe, they all voted freely on polling day and no one forced them to choose a candidate.

Meanwhile Kanfinsa Member of parliament has thanked the Judiciary for bringing the petition to an end.

Mr. Kango’mbe said the many weeks he has spent at court affected his work in the constituency and he is now hopeful of getting back to work in various communities.
