CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY RUBBISHES TONSE ALLIANCE’S CLAIMS OF BEING DENIED ACCESS TO ZAMBIAN AIRSPACE
By Staff Reporter
The Civil Aviation Authority has dismissed claims by the Tonse Alliance that it has been denied permission to fly within Zambia.
Speaking on Diamond TV’s Cross Examination programme, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, who joined the live broadcast at the request of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana, said the allegations were false.
He stated that the Tonse Alliance had not even approached the authority to inquire about the procedures required to obtain flight clearance.
During the same programme, Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana alleged that the Tonse Alliance does not have the financial capacity to hire a helicopter or aircraft.
He claimed that the alliance was using the issue to create the impression that it had been blocked from accessing the country’s airspace.
The Tonse Alliance has not publicly responded to these remarks.
