COMEDIAN SAULOS SCOOPS MATERO SEAT, HUMBLES UPND’S SAKALA
Resolute Party parliamentary candidate and comedian/artist Patrick Mwamba Salubusa alias Saulos has won the Matero Parliamentary seat defeating UPND candidate and Lusaka businessman Alexander Sakala in the 2026 General Election.
Salubusa’s victory marks another significant parliamentary gain for NRPUP and Resolute Party in Lusaka as the opposition parties continues to record reported wins across the country.
The result sees Salubusa who is known for his work as a comedian and artist enter Parliament after defeating Sakala in the closely watched Matero contest.
The race has been described by supporters as a contest between wealth and humility, with Matero residents choosing Salubusa whom they see as a humble candidate over the wealthy businessman.
Zambians went to the polls on August 13, 2026, to elect the President, Members of Parliament, mayors, council chairpersons and councillors.
