Court detains Lusaka man for sexually starving pregnant ‘wife’
THE Matero Local court yesterday detained a 50-year-old man of Lusaka’s Barlastone area after he starved his nine months heavily pregnant wife without food for three months just to punish her.
But Jethro Bulongo’s punishment did not just end at starving her stomach, he also ensured that her tunnel of happiness saw no moisture at a time when she needed it to be moisturized the most.
This was revealed in a matter in which Bulongo was sued by his illegal wife, Christine Kabaso aged 42 for pregnancy maintenance in the Matero Local court.
Kabaso told the court that she had been dating Bulongo for two years, until he finally decided to put his baby making cells race each other in the ‘fertilise her egg competition’, of which, one of them won, putting Kabaso in a family way.
But despite accepting the pregnancy, he only took her into his house when she was six months gone – but it was not for her to rest like every woman in her state deserves to, it was rather for her to be punished.
She said Bulongo had also impregnated another woman who he also brought in his house and told the two that Kabaso is his first wife, and the other pregnant woman is his second.
“But then, he doesn’t care for me. He doesn’t feed me or support the unborn child with anything that is needed. All his attention is with his younger wife who he even buys food for. He told our neighbors that he wants to punish me. But now, I am unable to even do my business in town because my pregnancy is heavy and I’m delivering next month,” he said.
She added that on top of denying her food to the extent that her neighbours have to feed her, what hurt her the most was that Bulongo also denied her his tool of happiness, instead she goes to sleep mourning while she hears her fellow wife moaning.
When put on his defence, Bulongo who called himself a ‘Tonga bull’ with two wives admitted denying his heavily pregnant ‘wife’ food and bedroom happiness.
But, he said this was only because his business of chicken rearing did not go well in the previous months, promising to start supporting her this monthend.
However, unfortunately for him, Magistrate Harriet Mulenga was not ready to listen to his tortoise- climbed- a-mountain story, as she ordered that he spends a night at Matero Police station to reboot his brain a little before the court could pass a judgment.
“How do you treat a woman that is carrying your own pregnancy like that? Do you know the pain she is currently going through at nine months? The court will adjourn this matter to tomorrow (today) for submission and judgment, meanwhile, let the defendant be remanded in custody,” said Magistrate Mulenga.
