Court Orders FUBE to Explain BINWELL MPUNDU’s Whereabouts

The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has ordered that former Chilubi Member of Parliament MULENGA FUBE be brought before it tomorrow, November 3, 2026, to explain the whereabouts of former Nkana MP BINWELL MPUNDU.

Mr. FUBE, who is a surety in a case in which Mr. MPUNDU is facing one count of seditious practices, is expected to account for the accused person’s failure to appear in court.

When the matter came up for the return of a bench warrant, Mr. MPUNDU’s lawyer, LEON LEMBA, informed the court that Mr. FUBE had been apprehended by police officers on Saturday, hence his failure to attend the proceedings.

In October, Magistrate MILUMBE issued a bench warrant against Mr. MPUNDU for the second time after he failed to appear in court.

The court also directed Mr. FUBE and former Kanfinsa Member of Parliament CHRISTOPHER KANG’OMBE to show cause why the accused person had failed to attend court.

Mr. LEMBA further informed the court that Mr. KANG’OMBE was also unable to attend the proceedings due to ill health.

Magistrate MILUMBE subsequently adjourned the matter to November 3, 2026, and ordered that Mr. FUBE be brought before the court.

Mr. MPUNDU’s charge stems from a Facebook post allegedly published on December 30, 2024, in which he is accused of urging members of the public and politicians to acquire firearms for self-defence.
