COURT UPHOLDS K14,000 TERM THREE TUITION FEES BY NKWAZI PRIMARY SCHOOL

THE Lusaka High Court has ruled that the increased K14, 000 term three tution fees being challenged by parents with children at Nkwazi Primary School should be maintained.

This is in a case Joseph Maopu, on behalf of the Nkwazi Primary School Parents Teachers Association, sued the school over increased school fees in accordance with an invoice issued before the end of term two.

After hearing the case, the court ruled in favour of the school, which has since written a notice urging parents and guardians to pay outstanding school fees which were initially due on August 11,2023.

In the notice, head of school, said all the fees that had not been paid by August 11, have since incurred 10 percent late payment fee.

“The Board and Management is pleased to inform you that the High Court decision in the case between Joseph Maopu and The Board of Trustees of Nkhwazi Primary School, issued on September 19, 2023, and delivered today, Friday, September 22, 2023, regarding the fees for term 3 2023, has been granted in Favour of the school.

“In light of this, kindly be reminded that as per the circular sent by management on August 25, 2023, Term three tuition fees are K14,000.00 as per the invoice that were sent out before the end of term two and due on Friday, August 11, 2023,” the notice dated September 22, 2023, reads in part.

The notice reads further stated that the Board and Management of the school are happy to consider up to Wednesday September 27, 2023 to have all the outstanding amounts cleared by the parents.

“By Thursday 28th September 2023, students whose tuition fees will not be paid in full run the risk of losing their places.

Only after paying the outstanding balance of tuition fees (penalties included) and the

K2,500.00 re-registration fee, and if there is space available in the class, may they be readmitted, ” the notice reads in part.
