DAY 8: FAMILY PLEADS FOR PRAYERS AS QUESTIONS MOUNT OVER HARRY FINDLAY’S WHEREABOUTS

The family of prominent Zambian businessman Harry Findlay has appealed to families whose relatives are facing similar circumstances to join them in prayer for the safety and wellbeing of their loved ones.
It is now eight days since Mr Findlay was reportedly detained and taken to an undisclosed location, leaving his family and lawyers increasingly concerned about his whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his detention
Findlay, a prominent figure in Zambia’s business community, was reportedly taken from his farm in Chisamba while he was engaged in his routine work.
His family says the uncertainty has been particularly distressing because they have not received an official explanation regarding his whereabouts, while his lawyers have allegedly been unable to gain access to him.
The family has also raised concerns over his access to prescribed medication, insisting that Findlay requires medical attention.
In a statement marking Day 8 of his disappearance, the family asked: “Where is Harry Findlay?”
The family said there had still been no official response regarding his whereabouts, no access for his lawyers and no access to his prescribed medication.
“At this point, we are only praying for Harry’s safety and well-being — and for every other family facing the same painful uncertainty. And we are asking you to pray with us,” the family said.
They added: “May our prayers be heard. May answers come. May justice and humanity prevail.”
Concerns over alleged abductions
Findlay’s case comes amid growing concern over reports of the detention or abduction of individuals associated with the opposition National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential campaign ahead of Thursday’s general elections.
The latest reported case involves former Deputy Director General for Intelligence Francis Mwale, who was reportedly abducted last night, with his whereabouts currently unknown.
Other individuals reportedly affected include NRPUP Deputy Secretary General for Voter Protection Kennedy Kamba; Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance member and former Chembe lawmaker Sebastian Kuapulande; former diplomat Martha Mwale; and Brian Mundubile’s media aide, Haana Israel.
The reports have heightened anxiety among opposition circles and families of those allegedly taken into custody or whose whereabouts remain unclear.
For Findlay’s family, however, the immediate concern remains his safety and access to medical care.
With the eighth day of uncertainty now reached, the family is appealing for prayers while calling for answers concerning the whereabouts and wellbeing of their breadwinner.
The family says it remains hopeful that he will be safely reunited with his loved ones and that “justice and humanity will prevail.”
