Deadly love!! Gwembe teacher takes own life after estranged wife cheats, bears child in Choma
A 40-year-old teacher of Gwembe District in Southern province has terminated his life middle-way after failing to reconcile with his estranged wife who got pregnant for another man during their separation.
Elimon Matambo of Sinafala Primary School Teachers’ Compound was found lifeless at his elder brother’s residence in Munyumbwe Township on Sunday morning in what Police said was a case of suspected suicide.
Southern Province police officer Commanding Moono Namalongo says preliminary investigations indicate that Matambo had earlier travelled to Choma in an attempt to reconcile with his estranged wife who abandoned their matrimonial home together with their six-year-old son.
However, he reportedly returned on Saturday evening distressed after learning that his estranged wife had a two-month-old child with another man.
The deceased spent the night at his brother’s house before he was discovered the following morning with a leather belt tied around his neck in a case of suspected suicide by hanging.
Police officers who visited the scene found no visible injuries on the body, adding that initial findings suggest the deceased may have hanged himself using a roof pole before falling to the ground.
