DEMOCRATS VOW TO CUT FUNDING FOR US TROOPS IN IRAN IF THEY TAKE CONGRESS
Rep. Ro Khanna stated on Fox News Sunday that a Democratic-controlled House and Senate would stop all funding for further U.S. military actions in Iran, even with American personnel and assets still in the region.
“I would stop the funding — the House and the Senate should stop the funding for any further actions in the Iran War,” he said. “That’s what we did to stop the Vietnam War, and we need to stop this war in Iran. And by the way, the president can’t veto that. The House and the Senate have the power on the appropriations bills.”
This is the same approach that left U.S. forces exposed in Vietnam. Cutting money while troops remain in harm’s way does not end the fight cleanly. It restricts supplies, support, and options, raising the risk to those already deployed. Iran has used threats to the Strait of Hormuz and asymmetric attacks; defunding the response hands the regime leverage without a decisive end.
Khanna presents this as constitutional duty. In practice, it is a midterm promise to halt the mission the moment Democrats gain control, regardless of conditions on the ground.
The conflict has already cost billions, claimed American lives, and disrupted energy markets. Voters should know one party’s plan is to pull funding while forces are still engaged.
