DENMARK ACCUSES RUSSIAN WARSHIP OF FIRING FLARES NEAR MILITARY HELICOPTER
Denmark’s armed forces say a Russian warship fired two flares toward a Danish military helicopter operating in international waters off the Danish coast on Monday.
According to the Danish Defence Command, the Fennec helicopter was carrying out a routine mission to photograph the Russian warship when the flares were launched, passing close to the aircraft.
🇩🇰 Copenhagen described the incident as “completely unacceptable” and summoned the Russian ambassador over the incident.
Russia’s Defense Ministry previously said the Soobrazitelny corvette had detected a Danish military helicopter approaching the vessel and fired two red signal flares as a warning. Moscow said the helicopter subsequently moved away.
The two sides therefore offer different accounts of the encounter.
