Did you know that Mr. Patrick Kangwa served as Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet under President Edgar Lungu?
Yes, he was appointed to that position in October 2017, after having previously served as National Coordinator of the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) under the Office of the vice president from somewhere around 2012 to 2017
When HH came into office in 2021, he refused to allow political differences to cloud his judgment. He recognised Mr. Kangwa’s competence and appointed him Acting Secretary to the Cabinet in October 2021. He later formally appointed him Secretary to the Cabinet in November 2022, with the appointment subsequently ratified by Parliament.
True to what HH saw in him, Mr. Kangwa has been nothing short of impressive. Exceptionally professional.
In a country where professionalism is often times overlooked, Mr. Kangwa has consistently demonstrated what it means to serve the government and the nation with dignity.
Those who organise awards for excellence and professionalism should seriously consider preparing one for this man. He deserves it.
