DR. GEORGE NG’UNI: A MAN WHO HAS TRANSFORMED THE ZAMBIA FLYING DOCTOR SERVICE

Employees of the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) have taken a moment to appreciate their Chief Executive Officer, Dr. George Ng’uni, for the positive impact he has had and continues to have on ZFDS as a whole and also on each and every employee.

Having joined the Service in May 2022, a huge transformation has been done with the Service under Dr. Nguni’s leadership. In their appreciation post which they wrote, the employees pointed out some positive changes that have happened at ZFDS, some of the notable aspects include:

1. Positive work culture in all employees as they work together as a team, and with that they are able to achieve through prayer and hard work.

2. Having an Engine that was grounded since 2017 be back online in 2023 and now ZFDS can be proud of 2 aircrafts. This has further enhanced the pursuance of the mandate of ZFDS to serve the rural and hard to reach areas.

3. Face lift and change of the Medical facilities from the previous working hours of 8-17 hours to a fully fledged 24hours NHima accredited facility, which provides efficient and effective medical services in a clean environment.

4. A facelift of the ZFDS offices as they can now boast of a clean working environment which is a plus for employee wellness.

5. An increase in the number of Outreaches from one or two which were previously done monthly to a minimum of 8 which are now done monthly to reach out to all parts of Zambia, with that a total of over 105,000 patients have been attended to for the year 2023.

6. Opening of an Aero-Med diagnostic hub and also another medical facility called Keneth Kaunda AeroMED in Itawa which carters to a variety of medical services and the income generated will be used for more outreaches to help our brothers and sisters in the hard to reach areas.

In expressing their gratitude, ZFDS employees extended heartfelt appreciation to Dr. George Ng’uni for his dedication and sacrifices. They invoked blessings upon him and his family, echoing the sentiments of a biblical prayer from the book of Numbers 6:24-26, which reads “May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord smile down on you and show you his kindness. May the Lord answer your prayers and give you peace.”

The employees pledged to continue serving with excellence and compassion under his guidance, in delivering healthcare services to all.
