DR KATELE KALUMBA CHARGED AND ARRESTED FOR CYBER OFFENCE
The Zambia Police Service in Kabwe District has formally charged and arrested Dr Katele Kalumba, of Chienge District, for the offence of harassment, contrary to Section 22 of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025.The matter was reported at Kabwe Central Police Station on September 10, 2026, by Albert Munjulunji, aged 29.It is alleged that on August 11, 2026, Dr Kalumba published and disseminated electronic content with the intent to humiliate the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr Hakainde Hichilema.
Following the report, police opened a docket of case and commenced investigations.Dr Kalumba was apprehended on September 23, 2026, in Chienge District and was formally charged and arrested on September 24, 2026, at Kabwe Central Police Station.
He has since been released on police bond and is expected to appear in court soon.
