DRC President Tshisekedi Appeals to Putin for Help Ending Rwanda Dispute Amid Ongoing Eastern Conflict
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Félix Tshisekedi has directly asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for assistance in resolving the long-running confrontation with neighbouring Rwanda, which Kinshasa accuses of supporting the M23 armed group fighting the Congolese government in the mineral-rich east.
During bilateral talks at the Kremlin on Friday (30 October 2026), at the conclusion of the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, Tshisekedi stated that the DRC “absolutely” wants Russia a permanent member of the UN Security Council (P5) to help “in the search for peace” with Rwanda.
He noted that the country has endured nearly 30 years of conflict in its eastern provinces and emphasised the need for concrete results from existing processes.

What happened to Tshisekedi’s deal with Trump where he surrendered mineral rights to the US in exchange for protection against the same Rwanda and M23 rebels?
It is sickening to see a leader pleading to another to bail him out. At this rate, he will be willing to sell his soul to the devil just to get Rwanda and M23 off his back.
