Reports: Drones Allegedly Target U.S. Base in Kuwait as Regional Tensions Rise
Regional tensions escalated on Tuesday following reports that three drones targeted a U.S. military base in Kuwait.
According to i24NEWS, citing a source familiar with the matter, the attack was allegedly carried out by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). There has been no official confirmation from U.S., Kuwaiti, or Iranian authorities regarding the reported strike or its impact.
Separately, explosions were reported in Iraq’s southern Basra province, near the Kuwaiti border, although the cause has not been officially established.
At the same time, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said a merchant vessel was struck by an unknown projectile near the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman. UKMTO advised ships operating in the area to exercise caution as maritime security concerns continue.
The reported incidents come one day after U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran had “one last chance to sign a good deal,” while stating that negotiations were underway. Iranian officials rejected that claim, insisting that no talks with the United States are currently taking place.
If confirmed, the reported drone attack and the maritime incident would mark another significant escalation in already heightened tensions across the Gulf. Authorities are continuing to assess the situation, and further official information is expected.
