ECONOMISTS’ BODY PREDICTS BRIGHT FUTURE UNDER IMF PROGRAM

The Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) has forecasted a positive outlook for Zambia under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Program.
While acknowledging short-term challenges, the EAZ emphasizes that the future is promising.
EAZ President Oswald Mungule encourages stakeholders to closely monitor how the IMF supports Zambia in overcoming its debt burden, ensuring the country’s sustainability.
Dr Mungule said during the 2024 Economic Summit scheduled for July 25th and 26th at Ciela Resort in Chongwe District, Lusaka (organized by the EAZ), the IMF will provide a comprehensive statement on Zambia’s debt distress resolution.
He also anticipates an economic outlook for Africa during the summit.
The IMF’s assessment will Dr Mungule said the IMF will cover various sectors, offering insights and guidance for both the continent and Zambia’s trajectory.
The Economics Guru said during the summit, stakeholders will analyze strategies to navigate the disaster and foster economic resilience.
He said the Economic Summit serves as a vital platform for collaboration between the government, industry players, and other stakeholders, demonstrating their commitment to overcoming economic challenges.
“We aim to drive economic recovery through partnerships and innovative strategies,” he said.
The EAZ President said the theme of this year’s summit is “Pioneering Zambia’s Sustainable Economic Transformation through Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Financing Mechanisms after Debt Restructuring.”

Dr Mungule said the Summit will delve into the crucial topics of sustainable development, climate change adaptation, and innovative financing mechanisms.
