The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has described the verification of ballot papers as a critical component of the electoral process, urging all stakeholders to witness the exercise.
ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga explained in an interview on TV1 that the final consignment of ballot papers will arrive on Friday, 31st July 2026, bringing the total number of flights to six, with arrivals scheduled daily.
Ms. Luhanga added that the ballot papers will be secured at the Silverest Warehouse before the commencement of the verification process.
She noted that packaging of ballot papers is currently underway in Dubai.
Ms. Luhanga explained that the process, initially scheduled to conclude on 28th July, was extended to 31st July 2026 due to withdrawals by some candidates a court case that required resolution.
She emphasized that the Commission remains within schedule and called on stakeholders and media representatives wishing to witness and cover the ballot paper verification process to obtain accreditation, which is currently underway at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
